Marc Effron
Vice President, Talent Management

At Avon Products, Marc and his team help to build the quality and depth of talent across Avon’s 40,000 global employees.  Marc’s responsibilities include executive development, succession planning, performance management, training and development, engagement and leadership strategy.

Approaching his work with a belief that talent programs are most successful if strategic, fact-based and practical, Marc has created “one page” talent management processes at Avon.  He and his team have simplified almost every talent process to ensure that managers can easily complete them.  This new mindset helps to focus the organization on getting talent results, not filling out complicated HR forms.

Prior to his role at Avon, Marc was Global Practice Leader for Hewitt Associates’ Leadership Consulting practice where he created the Top Companies for Leaders global research.  He was also Senior Vice President, Leadership Development for Bank of America, Director of Organization Effectiveness and Learning for Oxford Health Plans, and a compensation consultant for a global consulting firm in New York. He previously served as a political consultant and a congressional staff assistant.

Marc co-authored Leading The Way, co-edited Human Resources in the 21st Century and has written articles in Business Leadership: A Jossey-Bass Reader (Jan 2008), The Change Champions Field Guide, Leading Organizational Learning and The Practice of Leadership Coaching. Marc is a frequent speaker to business groups and conferences throughout the world. He is widely quoted on leadership issues including in articles in the New York Times, Asian Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The Economist, HR Executive and others.

He earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Washington and a M.B.A. with Honors Letters from the Yale School of Management.
